What is trunk or treat? It is an alternative to the traditional trick or treat in which a group of trusted adults decorate the trunks of their cars for Halloween and pass out candy or other treats to children. Trunk or treat events typically also include games and food. When it comes to decorating your car, there are obvious choices, like decorating for Halloween, using pumpkins, spider webbing, brooms, bats, etc.. But you can also get very creative – have a theme (e.g., the 1950s, a Bible story, cartoon character) or decorate with your favorite sports team. Often adults will dress up in costume, but that is not necessary. The main point is to have fun and provide children a safe alternative to traditional door-to-door trick or treating.
How you can help: 1) decorate your car and pass out candy, 2) donate candy for others to pass out, 3) volunteer to help with a game, 4) volunteer to help set up, cook, or clean up, 5) donate a baked good for the cake walk, 5) invite others to attend, and 6) pray for good weather!
