Alabama’s Medicaid debate is about more than numbers. It’s about people. That’s why Arise is proud to take part in the new #IamMedicaid campaign to help change the conversation around Medicaid.
Medicaid is the backbone of Alabama’s health care system. It insures one in five Alabamians, and almost all of them are our most vulnerable residents: children, seniors, and people with disabilities. The state’s looming Medicaid cuts could lead to closures of hospitals, doctor’s offices and other providers across Alabama. That would be a devastating blow for vulnerable people – and for our entire state.

It’s time to highlight the faces behind the numbers. #IamMedicaid is an effort for Alabama Medicaid patients, their families and their neighbors to remind lawmakers and the public that real people and real lives are affected by the Medicaid debate.
