More Light Sunday, June 5th
May 25, 2016, 12:44pm
This year we will celebrate More Light Sunday, June 5th. Our Christian Ed and Worship service, and a post-worship fellowship will be hosted by Covenant Presbyterian Church, 113 Hargrove Rd. Tuscaloosa, 35401.
UPC summer intern, Avery Smith and UPC pastor, Rev. Cathy C. Hoop will offer a dialogue sermon to address the question, "Does the PC(USA) need to ask forgiveness and offer an apology for the past treatment of our LGBTQ brothers and sisters?" This is a question that will come before the 222nd meeting of the PC(USA)'s General Assembly.
More Light Presbyterians approve this approach to truth and reconciliation. To read MLP's complete statement to this issue, click here: More Light Presbyterians.
The mission of More Light Presbyterians: Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.
