University Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 50^th anniversary the weekend of Oct. 8-9. The 50^th Anniversary Celebration events will include an open house, an anniversary sermon by former pastor Rev. Ron Gilmer and worship led by current pastor Rev. Cathy Hoop, as well as meals and times for fellowship.

Founded in 1966 during the Civil Rights Movement, University Presbyterian Church has a long history of involvement in social justice issues and service to The University of Alabama community. University Presbyterian Church was a student center before it became a church.
