Session Meeting Summary for  April 27, 2017, 5:30 pm

 

We lit the Christ candle, were called to order, and approved the agenda.

 

Opening:

• Lee Keyes led us in a devotional, and we began the meeting with prayer.

 

Committee Updates and Action Items:

Action Items:

• Building & Grounds brought their recommendations for building use to the Session. There was concern about the recommended fees and the discussion was referred to a sub-comimttee for review.


• Congregational Care and Fellowship moved that a task group be created to review a plan to update the Grace Presbyterian Church kitchen prepared by Covenant Presbyterian Church prior to December 31, 2016, and to consider whether additional changes should be made to improve Grace's stewardship of earth's resources and to meet anticipated mission needs of our congregation.  The motion was approved.


• CC&F also requested that the Session develop a plan for phoning members if there is sensitive information to be conveyed to the congregation, such as a tragedy. Cathy will work with Angelica to divide up the congregation among the elders.


• Finance & Stewardship Committee brought an update regarding the UPC property. The purchaser is waiting on two variances to be approved. Once those are approved they will be ready to close on their mortgage with their permanent financing.


• Arts ‘N Autism property update: We have reached an agreement with an option to purchase. Purchase price is $225,000.00, with a $10,000.00 option for a period of four months and additional option periods of 30 day at $2,000.00 if needed. All option paid goes toward the total purchase price. The price is the same – we are just paying an option rather than a down payment. The only negative is if we don't close on the A’nA property, we will lose the option paid.
